Becaufe, they, knowing things a. priori, in that they fee the caufes and grounds of all accidents, can give your lordfhip more full and perfect intelligence, than fuch an inferior minifter as I am, who come to under- ftand things a pofteriori, only by the effect, and by the fuccefs. Notwithltanding, becaufe the diligence of others cannot excufe my negligence, if I omit duty in this behalf, I prefume Hill to write to your lordmip; and, though I write the fame things as are written by others in fubftahce, yet perhaps I may fometimes add a circumftance, which may give light to the matter of fubftancc, and make it the clearer unto your lordfhip.
