Have you ever found it difficult to pray? Are you unsure of how to express yourself to God? As humans, it's difficult to be still before God, and therefore many Christians lack the intimacy with God they desire through an active prayer life. More Description Have you ever found it difficult to pray? Are you unsure of how to express yourself to God? As humans, it's difficult to be still before God, and therefore many Christians lack the intimacy with God they desire through an active prayer life. Sometimes the words don't come easily and the quiet feels overwhelming, like a vast void too deep to fill.
In times of deep grief, my mind was often too foggy to formulate anything other than, "Help me, God!" As a result, I began to ignore my prayer life altogether, being emptied of all words and meaning. I knew God understood my pain. He was there. But I didn't know how to put thoughts to my inner angst.
This is when I began to turn to Scripture to give words to connect my will to God's. Looking at the way Jesus used Scripture to overcome temptation in the wilderness taught me that His words are powerful, because they hold the authority of God Himself. Speaking truth over our lives changes everything. It builds strength and confidence in our walk with God.
My three-fold hope for this book: 1. To draw believers to the beauty of Scripture and the sweetness of God's word.
2. To give words to deeper issues of our life and times that reflect the character of God.
3. To build perseverance and security in the hearts of believers so they will grow in the hope of Christ.

Consider: Reflecting on the Words of Scripture, these 52 prayers give words to the things we long for deepest in life and faith. Studying Psalm 119 shows us what a beautiful gift it is to be able to read about the character of God and His desire for His people to walk in His likeness through reading the Bible. It's in the pages of Scripture that we can align our will with His. In these pages, you will also find helpful Bible study tips, context to verses, and practical encouragement.
Consider: Reflecting on the Words of Scripture can be read in any order and includes an index for finding specific subjects of prayer. I hope it will serve as a tool to help you look at praying the Scriptures with a fresh perspective. We don't only have to find verses that we can insert our names into, but we can look for the mind of Christ in all the texts and ask Him to create those qualities in us.
