Lia and Gracie are each destined for their own journey and their own destiny.Lia is very much involved with the Chippewa tribe. While helping her father train Chief Banan's son to heal and protect the members of his tribe, tragedy strikes. Plans are altered as Lia finds herself trapped in an agreement with Chief Banan. No amount of objection will keep her from having to spend a year living among the Chippewa Indians.Her problems mount as she discovers that Chief Banan's oldest son Achak wishes to claim her as his bride. Meanwhile, Willow Creek continues to fall victim to the plans of railroad president, Jackson Cline. As areas are surveyed, and homes and land taken, Gracie Davis strives to uncover the hidden agenda of railroad supervisor Jordan Wells. Using her skills as a reporter for the local newspaper, Gracie embarks on a plan to reveal all she can about Mr. Wells and his plans to disrupt the lives of the fine people of Willow Creek. The different challenges of the two women bring them together as they find their way through adventure and romance.
