The prize is awarded to a deserving scholarly work in the field of ancient history or the associated disciplines of historiography and the reception of antiquity. The second recipient of this award is Mischa Meier, whose highly innovative work and publications have spurred new discussions about early Greek history as well as late Roman history. Meier's research in the reception of ancient things in music, literature and film connects with a central theme in the works of Karl Christ. This volume contains Meier's presentation at the award ceremony held on April 17th, 2015, which deals with "The Germanic Migrations in Review: Individual Spheres of Activity in the 5th Century CE," as well as the laudatory introduction by Uwe Walters. German description: Der Karl-Christ-Preis ist dem Andenken an den Marburger Althistoriker Karl Christ gewidmet (1923 - 2008). Mit dem Preis werden herausragende wissenschaftliche Leistungen auf dem Gebiet der Alten Geschichte und ihrer Nachbardisziplinen sowie der Wissenschafts- und Rezeptionsgeschichte des Altertums ausgezeichnet. Der zweite Preistrager ist Mischa Meier. Der an der Universitat Tubingen wirkende Ordinarius fur Alte Geschichte hat ein breites und hochst innovatives wissenschaftliches Oeuvre vorgelegt. Durch eine Vielzahl herausragender althistorischer Publikationen beeinflusst er nachhaltig die Diskussion um das fruhe Griechenland ebenso wie die um das spate Rom. Seine Untersuchungen zur Rezeptionsgeschichte antiker Stoffe in Musik, Literatur und Film fuhren ein zentrales Anliegen Karl Christs weiter. Die Rede, die Mischa Meier zur Verleihung des Preises am 17.
