German description: Der internationale Wahrungsfonds (IWF) und die Weltbank sind in den vergangenen Jahren mehr und mehr in das Zentrum der Kritik geraten. Anlass sind die internationalen Finanzkrisen, aber auch ein generelles Unbehagen uber die Konzepte der Entwicklungspolitik. IWF und Weltbank wird dabei eine betrachtliche Verantwortung zugewiesen. Es gibt sogar Vorwurfe, dass diese Institutionen die Fehlentwicklungen verursacht hatten.Jurgen Stark und Dietrich Hartenstein hinterfragen die Rollen beider Institutionen anhand ordnungspolitischer Vorstellungen. Wodurch sind IWF und Weltbank legitimiert? Haben sie eine offentliche Aufgabe und sollten ihre Mandate auch heute noch unverandert gelten?Die Autoren gelangen zu der Erkenntnis, dass eine vollige Neuorientierung der Mandate oder gar eine Abschaffung von IWF und Weltbank der falsche Weg waren.
