Hillel Black was a publisher at Macmillan and an editor-in-chief at William Morrow. In 2000, he joined Sourcebooks as executive editor, where he started the company's fiction imprint, Sourcebooks Landmark. He left Sourcebooks in 2009 and worked as a freelance editor for six years. He was also the author of seven books of fiction and nonfiction including The American Schoolbook, They Shall Not Pass, and The Watchdogs of Wall Street. He died on February 8, 2016 at the age of 86.
