''Don't Buy a Cockapoo' Description: Cockapoos, or cockerpoos as they are sometimes called, are a crossbreed between a poodle and a cocker spaniel. They have bloomed in popularity over the past 20 years for many reasons and are now living their best lives as furry additions to our homes and hearts. This mixed breed of dog is regarded to be well-tempered and obedient, while also possessing good overall health. They truly are adorable with their big round eyes, affectionate personalities, and generous kisses. It is believed that with a cockapoo you will have a forever puppy who wants to please you, play with you, and be your number one sidekick. I bet you've heard that cockapoos have the loyal heart of our sweet-natured cocker spaniels, mixed with the calm, focused intelligence and sophistication of a poodle (minus the froufrou looks). Cockapoos seem to be the best of both worlds.

So, what's the big deal? Why am I writing this at all? That is a good question to ask, and one which many pet professionals are unwilling to answer honestly to your face. I have worked with many cockapoos who have been wonderfully well-adjusted dogs, but before you fall victim to this breed's sweet face and charm, there are some alarming behavioral concerns about the breed that you need to be aware of. I am a pet professional and have been for nearly 20 years. I have worked for veterinary hospitals, grooming salons, a college run animal clinic, and finally, for a kennel and dog rescue.

I love dogs. I love them so much that I am willing to risk my reputation to share with you the dark truth about one of America's most beloved designer breeds.
