More DescriptionThis book will introduce first-semester students into the science of Social Work. Basic questions concerning the profession and scientific discipline as well as its identity-building "core" will be answered in an intelligible and explanatory language. Various exercises and further targeted literature will stimulate self-study. The curriculum was developed and successfully executed together with students at two universities, where the autors offered an introduction to the fundamentals of Social Work during lectures, tutorials and seminars. Each of the chapters covers the content of a two-hour lecture. The chapters may be used as basis for discussions in tutorials and for examinations. Hugo Mennemann was Professor of Social Work Theories and Concepts at Catholic University of Applied Sciences of North Rhine - Westphalia before he was appointed Professor at Munster University of Applied Sciences in 2015.
