More DescriptionStarting and scaling up is hard and it often takes much longer than anticipated to build a sustainable business. This book is a compilation of more than a century of commercial experience from a variety of people in different industries and countries.
Eight very different authors, each with a unique voice, take it in turn to tell their stories of struggle and victory in the face of one of the biggest recessions to threaten the world yet.
These are entrepreneurs who sometimes find running their own business overwhelming, all-demanding and that there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel sometimes.
The various stories that comprise this compilation are honest and candid accounts from fellow business owners of what has worked and what hasn't worked during what has been unexpected global turmoil.
The collection of life chapters reveal and explain the eight keys that lead to success for any business, in any industry and in any country, namely Commitment, Values, Support, Threat, Courage, Challenge, Flexibility and Rebellion
This is not a book on how to get rich quick. Instead, it centres around how to dig deep, persevere as an entrepreneur, build your self-esteem and inner confidence, so that you can build a robust and sustainable business for the future.
To a degree, success relies on timing. This is why "get rich quick" schemes don't work. Something of value is earnt over time, not in an instant. We can achieve anything; we just can't have everything. The key is not to give up.
Start-ups are the most difficult things to make work successfully. Twenty percent never get beyond Year One and forty percent never see their fifth birthday. It requires tenacity, self-belief and the ability to close deals. A lack of cash flow in the early years hampers the majority of early-stage companies.
Then there is the emotional toll.
Ultimately, none of us can control Life's events but we can refashion our mindset in order to cope when something hits us square in the face.
All of us face adversity in our lives. There's a challenge ahead, even financial turmoil sometimes. What matters is being open to change and having the courage to move forward. This is made easier when we benefit from the support of others around us.
Successful business owners are a very rare breed in my experience. That's why most people on this planet are employees. Successful business owners often like to make their own rules rather than follow the rules of others. We want to beat the system and have a sense of achieving something of long-term value.
In "8 Keys to Unlocking Business Success ... Even In a Recession", a select group of entrepreneurs share their experience and wisdom with warmth, engaging encouragement and honesty.
