More DescriptionThe U.S. Presidential election year of 2020 is likely to be an unforgettable turning point in history. This full-size (8.5 x 11 in.) 78-page weekly planner will make it easier for you to follow the long and rather complicated process by which Americans select their leader--a process which has become subject to many changes and attempts at manipulation. Candidates--through a process of state primary elections, caucuses, and conventions--vie for nomination by one of the major political parties, the winners being chosen during the summer at national party conventions. The candidates then square off to win the decision of the voters in November. Through a weighted system, the winner in each state is apportioned a certain number of electors in the "Electoral College," which meets in December to carry out the selection of the next president and vice president. The electors vote separately for each office. If no candidate receives an absolute majority of electoral votes, the House of Representatives chooses the president and the Senate chooses the vice president.
