In this work, the author points to the wealth of human and spiritual values in the African cultural legacy which have been ignored by the rest of the world in favor of an overtly materialistic axiology, and which the contemporary African elite is under pressure to abandon in pursuit of goods and technology. With the Ebira notion of ozovehe ("the human person is life") as a point of departure, the book uses as its text a combination of African orature and biblical and traditional Christian anthropological thought. The main theme is that the African heritage has something to offer the world of today. The African humanistic vision ozovehe, enriched by the Christian notion of Imago Dei, presents an alternative value system an African Christian humanism.
