Starting with the family tradition and his youth the study then describes his academic socialization as student and young professor. Rothacker's important books and essays in the fields of philosophy, cultural theory and personality psychology are chronologically analyzed for an insight into the developement of his ideas. Rothacker's attitude towards the national socialist regime and his thoughts in the field of political ideology are illustrated in a detailed chapter. The denazification is as much highlighted as the further developement of his thinking past World War II.
