Erythromycin is a drug prescribed for infection like pneumonia, whooping cough, sexual transmitted disease, acne and urinary tract infections. Out of the functions and actions of this drug is to stop bacteria from making protein that is needed for their survival and for them to function properly.
This drug may also be prescribed for slow passage of food from the stomach into the intestine and also other conditions involving poor movement of substances through the stomach and the intestine. This drug is approved by the food and drug administration in 1967 under the brand name of lloson, manufactured by Eli Lilly.
