This inspirational guide to Europe's most outstanding sites gives you a fresh look at top travel destinations, and helps you decide where to go next.
The vast and varied European continent boasts many favorite travel destinations, such as Rome and its ancient ruins, Gaudi's Barcelona, the new Berlin, and many other sites famous as historic, cultural, and architectural landmarks. But Europe also offers travelers unforgettable experiences at places that display nature's beauty and wonders, including the picturesque Scottish islands, the scenic Swiss Alps, and Iceland's spectacular glaciers and volcanoes.
This book guides you to Europe's very best places: its best cities, castles, cathedrals, mountains, lakes, forests, and coastal regions. Each chapter presents a destination and describes the special qualities that make it a must-see attraction. Maps set the places in context, and stunning photos set them apart from the ordinary.
If you've already visited some of these places, you'll surely want to return to them. And if you're currently making travel plans you'll find plenty of practical tips as well as insightful descriptions to help you prepare for your trip. But even if you never manage to visit every one of the sites described in this book, the pleasant hours you spend with The Traveler's Atlas will make you feel like you have.
