A gifted playwright and screenwriter turned novelist, Jim McBride hails from the area between the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho and the Shirley Mountains of Wyoming. He also spends several months a year in New England on writing projects.
A graduate of Brandeis University, McBride holds a Master of Fine Arts degree. In addition to being Brandeis' playwright-in-residence, McBride has worked as an actor, foundry worker, coal miner and cowhand. Author of "The Clearing" and "Horsethief Moon," he has worked at the Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut; studied with Constance Welsh of the Yale School of Drama; and acted in "The Playboy of the Western World" under the direction of Siobhan McKenna of Ireland's Abbey Theatre.
