The Robin is the UK favourite National Bird. It adorns Christmas cards and gifts featuring the robin sell well. But how many people know of the robins true character? Is it a vicious murderer, at least to other birds? Artists, photographers, poets and authors love the robin. A favourite poem The North wind doth blow says "The North wind doth blow and we shall have snow and what will poor robin do then, poor thing? He'll sit in a barn and keep himself warm and hide his head under his wing, poor thing." But the truth may be that he certainly does no such thing!

Ann Williams studied Zoology and Oceanography at Swansea University and then went on to do a PGCE at Matlock College in Derbyshire.
She spent many years in education, teaching young children, before going on to work with the Early Years Service in Lancashire as a special needs coordinator.
Now retired, she enjoys painting and writing books about things which inspire her, in the lovely Pendle countryside.
Her focus tends to be on flowers, birds and anything magical!
