Published in 1794, this two-volume history of the Islamic kingdoms of southern India is based around translations by the orientalist Jonathan Scott (1753-1829). Volume 1 comprises the work of the Persian chronicler Ferishta (1560-1620) up to the end of the sixteenth century. Volume 2 draws on other authors and also contains a history of Bengal.
