This started out as an experiment. Well, that and an outlet: a way to relieve boredom. It's a combination of pictures I've taken and weird thoughts that I've had. But it's more than that. Mainly it's a result of me freaking out over sliding into middle age. Okay, that could use some explanation. I promised myself I wouldn't be "that guy", you know, the one that gets all weird when they hit 40. But I did. As a result I started analyzing everything--and waxing nostalgic on what I felt...
More DescriptionThis started out as an experiment. But I did. As a result I started analyzing everything--and waxing nostalgic on what I felt was time that had slipped away. Yeah, I know, overly dramatic. Whatever.Anyway, about a year ago I downloaded the app Hipstamatic onto my iPhone and was immediately enthralled with the ability to make photos I just took look aged, weathered, antique. It was fasciniating to me, this "Instant Nostalgia" as I'd coined it. And in a moment of brilliance, or vodka induced stupidity, it seemed to me I could make my own new instant nostalgia. So I started taking pictures of everything. This is a year-long project in taking pictures of everything then writing outlandish and usually inappropriate text to go along with them in an attempt to amuse myself. There is no story. There is no plot. There is no rhyme or reason. Occasionally there is contridiction. Often there is only a punchline.
