Fifties in Focus

During the work process of creating this book I was immensely inspired by the classic street photography of the 50s and 60s. During the work process of creating this book I was immensely inspired by the classic street photography of the 50s and 60s. I studied the works of different artists, e.g. Robert Frank or Garry Winogrand, to sufficiently document the people who decided to incorporate and revive this epoch in today's time.The book focuses on people whose lifestyle is often reduced to Rock'n'Roll stereotypes - such as polka dot patterns and cherry accessories. However, this lifestyle offers much more than one would expect at first sight.In order to graduate at the University of Duisburg-Essen, I intensively examined the unique facets of this subculture to provide a realistic and relevant view of the scene, thus I visited concerts, carshows and other related events.This is an analog photography work and all images were shot on film without flash or any other defamiliarization of situations.
