More DescriptionFluorescein angiography is being used extensively as a valuable aid to the study and treatment of various chorioretinal diseases. It has been responsible for some major advances in understanding the mechanisms of certain disease processes. For fluorescein angiography the patient is given an intravenous injection of fluorescien dye and special photographs are taken of the back of the eye. The resulting images of the blood vessels enable diagnosis to be made for diseases as diverse as brain tumors and diabetes. This book describes in detail the requirements of a fluorescein angiography clinic, the interpretation of a normal angiogram, the advantages of this particular investigation, and the classification of abnormal fluorescence. Chapters on the interpretation of diabetic retinopathy and maculopathy, and iris and anterior segment angiography are also included. The complications of fluorecein angiography are comprehensively described together with the steps required for dealing with them. This book is aimed at ophthalmologists, neurosurgeons, and physicians working in diabetes clinics.
