More DescriptionThe chloroacetamide herbicides (acetochlor, alachlor, metolachlor and dimethenamid) and the triazines (atrazine, cyanazine and simazine) are two of the most widely used classes of herbicide in the United States. These herbicides are frequently encountered in groundwater, surface water and drinking water in areas of high usage. A study was done to determine the occurrence and removal of neutral chloroacetamide degradates in drinking water sources. This report presents the results of the study in terms of occurrence of neutral chloroacetamide degradates in drinking water sources (groundwater and surface water), their removal in finished drinking water, and their removal in bench scale unit processes.
