More DescriptionThe story of the Ozarks in the 1930s was a great time in history. My families were a significant part of this. The Halbrooks and Needhams moved into Van Buren County, Arkansas in the early 1860¿s. It was during the Civil War, and the South was burning. It was a very sad time, but a chance to start fresh in a safer state. The Halbrooks and Needhams, trying to escape the evils of the war, transplanted their families from McNairy County, Tennessee. The second generation of these families lived to experience the changes of facing a wild wilderness, the First World War, and the Great Depression.
The Ozarks area is a spooky and mysterious, yet magical place. At this time in history it was very remote, but full of loving Christian families that were tested by hard times. I am proud that my family was part of this time in history. This story is only one of many that were never told. The stories of my grandmother have been in my heart for many years, and now this book is allowing me to share those memories from her life. The adventures recounted in Formosa take place in the heart of our country and consist of ups and downs, incredible thrill rides that may cause you to wonder if such things could be true, but I assure you, they are.
