More DescriptionWar. The war of fire and blood, The Red War, threatened the destruction of civilization. Fought tirelessly for thirty-five years, we hoped for a miracle that one day it would end. All our hopes died the day Ultima Mortem, the Final Death, was released: like its name suggests, it ravaged and eradicated, killing billions. The unforgiving virus left few survivors, and we quickly learned that surviving the virus came with a price. All survivors were left sterile. The human race was now in danger of extinction. Ultima Mortem was going to kill us all. Within the chaos, a Power rose from the ashes and offered shelter and safety. "Come to the Fortress," the broadcast announced, "your new life stars here." Seeking refuge, survivors rushed to the Fortress only to find their safe haven would soon become their prison. The shelter? A walled city built for containment. Safety? Experimentation and the enforced repopulation program. Come of age, sixteen years old, and for two years you're regulated to repopulation, with one purpose to breed. After two years, if you are not able to bear a child, then you're released and given a job to service the Fortress. If you're one of the lucky ones and become pregnant, you and your child will live a life of privilege and leniency. At twenty-five years old, I've never been on the inside of the Fortress. My mother perished from the virus, leaving my father, my sister, and I survivors on the run. Anyone caught on the outside of the Fortress is labeled a traitor and is publicly executed as a warning to those thinking of escape, and as an example to those not willing to join the Fortress of their own free will. Following the execution of my father, my sister and I are left to survive on our own, and to run from those that hunt us. Warning! Fortress contains content that may not be suitable for some readers.
