More DescriptionAs a student at Ingolstadt University in 1818, Victor Frankenstein disregards warnings from professors and his friend, Ursula Clerval, as he conducts experiments to reanimate a human body composed of parts from three corpses. And he succeeds, but rather than being ecstatic about his scientific breakthrough, Frankenstein immediately regrets, curses, and abandons the "monster" he created. The monster follows his "creator" and pleads for compassion, but when Frankenstein rejects and threatens to shoot him, the monster seeks revenge through a series of murders. When the monster kills his young brother, Frankenstein returns home to Geneva and the woman he hopes to marry, Elizabeth. They defend the innocence of their friend, Justine, who's accused of boy's murder, but to no avail-Justine is sentenced to death. So Frankenstein turns the tables on the monster and now pursues him, only to be met with the demand that Frankenstein reanimate a female to accompany the monster into self-imposed exile. Frankenstein reluctantly agrees, but when the moment comes to electrify the pieced-together female corpse in the laboratory, the scientist destroys the body rather than awaken it, causing the monster to swear complete and utter vengeance. When the marriage of Victor and Elizabeth is announced, the monster returns to murder Victor's bride-to-be. As in the novel, Victor follows the monster to the ends of the artic, where the scientist survives, but the monster doesn't.
