More Description
A fascinating insight into love, life and families across eight decades. Exciting glimpses into the past showing how many aspects of life will change but family and love are a constant. A delightful book that will appeal to both young and old alike.
For older readers this book will bring back many memories and for the younger reader an inspirational insight into life in all its guises. The author, Ann Wheal, is a feisty 80 year young character who shares many of her personal experiences, showing how life, and the world has moulded and transformed her over her 80 years. Born during the second World War, Ann has had a varied and interesting fun filled life and she lets you the reader into many of her innermost secrets.
This book tells her story from spending nights in an underground tobacco warehouse with her family protected from the doodlebugs whilst living in London, to travelling across the world as part of her university work, lecturing on children and families.
The book is in two parts, the first part is Ann's recollections of how life moved on as the world changed, each chapter spans a 10-year life period and also contains a brief resume of political and social life during that time. Poignant quotations announce the beginning of each new chapter. The second part of the book gives the history of both sides of her family and includes two family trees.
A well woven history that pulls together the threads of a life, a society and how the interplay of families comes into being.
