More DescriptionA failing IUPUI pre-med student realizes that he will never live up to expectations. He decides that his future lies in inventing a new device that will revolutionize the medical world. He sets out to accomplish that goal but doesn't have the patience to follow proper protocols. He wants to try out his invention immediately. Skipping the clinical trials, he goes directly to human tests with the expected results. Detective Angie Bartoni and her new partner, rookie Dan Roberts, are handed the case. With two bodies found in the White River and a third student missing, they are under pressure to find and stop this maniac before he claims more victims. As if this weren't enough, an IUPUI professor is shot several times but refuses to cooperate with the police. Bartoni believes the two cases are linked but without cooperation, they are stymied. Their first big break in the case comes when the latest kidnapping victim escapes in a blinding snow storm. With nothing on, she has to run for her life. The bitter cold with impending frostbite is only one obstacle she has to overcome to survive. The "would be" inventor is hunting for her and if he gets to her first, she will end up being the third victim. Follow Detective Bartoni as she and her partner are sent first in one direction and then another until they finally catch a break. Even then it is not easy, as other obstacles are thrown up before them. This is a fast paced mystery that will be hard to put down once you begin. It has all the elements of a great read.
