Presented as a series of lesson plans, the guidebook allows the instructor or tutor to teach directly from the guidebook, or use it to supplement another text. The simple, straightforward presentation is appropriate for elementary education, remedial instruciton, or adult literacy efforts. Lessons progress in difficulty, so that the student can read simple words ater the first two lessons. The final chapters include a basic writing guide and an index of words for phonics practice.
