More DescriptionFundy Bay is the fictionalized story of a small, impoverished fishing community located on the Bay of Fundy coastline. Set in the 1950s to 1970s and biographical in tone, the story is narrated by Paul Beck, who shares insights and wry observations about the interesting people living in the village and surrounding areas during the time of his childhood. The communities along the shore appear frozen in time, with living conditions similar to those not experienced since the 1920s in other rural areas of North America. Automobiles, telephones, insulated dwellings, and indoor plumbing are out of reach for most Fundy Bayers. The situations involving the community locals are often humourous, sometimes tragic, and occasionally dark and sinister. In spite of the poverty and squalor, Paul Beck maintains a sense of affection and wonder for the area and its citizens.
