'Future Fish' is a picture book in rhyming verse - suitable for both children and adults - that follows the story of Cat, the first fish to climb out of the sea and walk on dry land! It is a fictional retelling - a fish tale - based on a short story I'd written in 2020 called 'The 430 Million Year Old Fish'. During this illustrated journey, a great many things are addressed in short time: 'Future Fish' is a picture book in rhyming verse - suitable for both children and adults - that follows the story of Cat, the first fish to climb out of the sea and walk on dry land!
It is a fictional retelling - a fish tale - based on a short story I'd written in 2020 called 'The 430 Million Year Old Fish'. During this illustrated journey, a great many things are addressed in short time: - growing up
- friendship
- challenging the status quo
- overcoming fear
- seeking growth
- accepting change
- letting go
- moving forward
It's my belief that this book won't be for everyone, but I do hope it's for someone out there!
If you or a kiddo in your life enjoys books such as the BFG, Where The Wild Things Are, The Little Prince, I'll Love You Forever, and all things Shel Silverstein, I hope you'll enjoy this book!
Snippet:
"Cat wanted answers about being a fish.
Why did fish swim in water?
And could they leave,
if they wished?
What was outside the water?
No one had a reply!
The last fish who tried it,
caught one glimpse and died..."
Synopsis: A young fish named Cat has questions no one can answer. He befriends an old eel named Merle who becomes his mentor, and teaches Cat that the future
needs little fish like him who ask questions, who seek answers, who evolve both inside and out. In the end, Cat learns that though change and growth can come at a heavy price,
without change nothing is possible, and with change
anything is.
