Firstly, I want to proclaim that I am not a professional researcher of genealogy history and facts. I am a seeker of history, interesting stories, and the awesome search of family relatives. My journey into researching my family genealogy began in the early 1990s when I was involved in the planning of a family reunion in Michigan. All of sudden we all realized that there were many holes in the family tree and it was difficult to fill them. The older generations were dying and memories were lost. That was also the case for my family. My parents were deceased, as were their parents, and I knew nothing of them. It has been my experience that most families do not know the history of their past relatives. In many cases the youth do not ask their grandparents where they came from, who were their Dads and Mothers, or what was it like 100 years ago. "If it is not electronic it does not exist." So, during talks over the dining room table I discovered that Rita Verret had the same experiences: she knew her immediate family history and that of her grandparents. But soon after that generation she had nothing to go on. Thus this journey began, searching, recording, and eventually writing.
