As a boudoir photographer, I encountered women who desperately wanted to love themselves. Many felt unlovable, unworthy, and unbeautiful. I found my calling in helping women build their confidence, overcome their insecurities and negative mindset. After creating a program called "Perfectly Imperfect Body Image Boot Camp" (now re-named Get Unf*cked), I got into the minds of 6 amazing women who were vulnerable and raw with me. The idea to create this workbook, and include life experience contributions from women all around the world, was in my mind, a way to reach more women who needed this help. This workbook is broken up into chapters, themes if you will, that include stories surrounding body image, trauma, family secrets, sex, and more. Each chapter contains contributions of life experiences shared by brave women, who were ready to have their voices heard. Some are anonymous, some are not. That was their choice. After each chapter, there is an opportunity for the reader to share their own personal life experience with prompted questions and journaling opportunities. Prompted journaling has been found to help to take the pressure off of the reader, who may be struggling with the "I don't know what to write". The questions asked are the same for each chapter, and the reader is given the opportunity to re-write their story. "Getting naked" references to vulnerability, but the reader is welcome to participate in the naked mirror challenge presented. This workbook is also filled with inspiring quotes, but also coloring pages, as coloring has been found to reduce anxiety. Towards the end of the book, the reader is given strategies on shifting their mindset as well as overcoming self-sabotaging behaviors and inner critics. The very last exercise is likely the most important, and that is forgiveness. Forgiving yourself, but also the asshole who hurt you. This book does contain profanity, as I did not want my contributors to feel like they could not be their authentic selves. I've learned that when a woman swears, she is telling her truth.
