More DescriptionGrave State of Affairs is a story of the week of my mother's death and burial when it seemed everything that could go wrong did. From caregiver burnout to an internment near-miss at the cemetery, there is a seemingly endless number of disappointing and hair-pulling situations to conquer. Written in a day-to-day format, the main plot digresses now and then to include background events of the Mother and immediate family members in an informative and humorous way that keeps the reader wanting more. Having owned a home health agency for many years, I gained a great deal of knowledge as well as firsthand experience in dealing with the challenges of caring for the elderly in the Mountain West. I candidly discuss the family struggle with depression and PTSD and its effects on several generations. I also share lessons learned through this particular experience and how to stop reliving past injustices and letting them consume and control us until our own demise. Life has its ups and its downs, but we can live with more "ups" than downs and have more peace and even joy by changing the way we think about them. All this, while interspersed with laughable faux pas and ridiculous situations, keeps you wide awake until the end of the book.
