More DescriptionA boy has a treasured vase that breaks. He grieves over the loss and learns to overcome it with the help of his grandmother.I was inspired to write this book with the passing of my grandfather when I was 19 years old. The vase that breaks in the story doesn't necessarily represent the loss of the actual person, but more the innocence and security lost. The boy in the story goes through different stages of grief, from denial, bargaining, and blame to acceptance. After my grandfather's passing, I had a computer sales job that was near my grandmother's house. Each day I would walk to her house for lunch and enjoy her cooking, including her delicious miso soup. These visits were a comfort for me (and surely the same for grandma), and it is my hope that those struggling with a loss or grief are encouraged by this book.
