Happy Steps is a mix of personal experience and research addressing what makes us happy. Talking to people of all ages was a great starting point as the question always elicited such a positive response and everyone wanted to share their feelings and observations. Many of the fifty topics I cover are subjects, which are close to our hearts from love, freedom, community, and gratitude to inner peace. They are stand-alone bite size pieces, which can be read at a leisurely pace. I was born in the 60's in Northern Ireland to parents who moved there from the Punjab (India) to start a new life together. Growing up in a beautiful country whose rugged landscape was also the backdrop to 'The Troubles' was very thought provoking. Our family integrated well into their new country. During the summer holidays we travelled to India and the U.S.A. to connect with my extended family. These times gave me a marvellous window into life in very different cultures, but yet similar in many ways. I studied English Literature and Languages at Leeds University. Meeting fellow students from all over the world broadened my horizons, again in a very positive way. I spent one year as a French Assistante in Charleville-Mezieres and learnt to love life the French way. I have worked in Education; Sales; Lettings; as a Doctor's receptionist and more recently in 'App' development. I love variety and new challenges. This has all given me a very unique viewpoint on the topic of happiness. Happy Steps will show you that you can find pleasure in things, which you might not realise. Many routines and chores can be reassuring, protective and nurturing. Most of us share the same core values and desires to have meaningful relationships and enjoy our time on this wonderful planet. I have added my own inspirational quotes, which will help to signpost joys you can experience everyday. I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I have loved writing it. Enjoy!
