William C. Harrison; a Maine artist, has made his reputation creating detailed pen-and-ink drawings with fine lines and dots that produce intense light and shadow with meticulous attention to detail. Capturing the full impact of a color scene working in black and white is generally thought of as a photographic skill, but Harrison's technique gives the impression of color on color and is used to great effect in his panoramic sky cityscapes.

More DescriptionWilliam C.
The pieces presented in this volume are joyful celebrations of their subject, the essence of which Harrison has captured after long and thoughtful study and the precise application of artistic skills he has developed over the course of a lifetime.
Bil, as he calls himself, says his work is the opposite of impressionism. He has a photographic eye, leaving nothing out. His work has integrity and is displayed in many galleries around the country, with the biggest collection featured at Mainely Frames and Gallery, of Portland, Maine.
Harrison has received a great deal of acclaim for his work, particularly his cityscapes. His drawings have been published in magazines with national circulations, including Better Homes and Gardens, The New Yorker, Field and Stream, and Wooden Boat. Due to his understanding of offset lithograph printing, he was able to adapt his technique so the lithograph prints of his artwork reproduce like originals. His cityscape prints are signed limited editions and his originals are in great demand. Some limited editions have sold out, and are now sought by collectors. His art hangs on the walls of those who have fallen in love with a particular piece, and of astute art connoisseurs who are aware of his overall significance as an artist. But few know the man. His quirky personality and the story of his journey through life as an artist remain largely unknown.
This volume presents Harrison's art in the context of his life and is a celebration of both. Interspersed between his portraits, landscapes, and other pieces we included interviews of his friends, admirers and collectors, as well as entries from the artist's scrapbook which reveal his wit and wisdom.
