More DescriptionA unique attribute of law enforcement organizations that distinguish them from other institutions is their capacity to deliver violence. When violence visits the public, the public does not call upon firefighters, librarians, or the public works department to resolve the issue. They call law enforcement officers to assist. Statistically, in nearly every instance those calls are resolved peacefully. Sometimes, however, officers use lethal force to assure public safety.
