More DescriptionDoes the modern church accurately represent a complete Biblical presentation of Marriage, or do they tell only part of the story? In an age where the culture is shifting violently to redefine Marriage, are most Christians deceived about what is and isn't Marriage now? Are Mr. & Mrs. AverageAmerican supposed to have more options in their mate selection, and should the government get out of their personal social contracts and social constructs altogether? Should Marriage be limited to two parties? Should there be allowances for multiple husbands or wives? Is Marriage just a worn out institution the time for which has past? These are a few of the questions that will be discussed in an honest, open way within "I now pronounce you Husband & Wives." WIthin these pages you will find several stories of people who have tried and failed at plural marriage, as well as those who live it well, and some of the reasons why it worked for these and not for those. There are challenges that must be overcome by those who live the life, and people who present the challenges sometimes out of nothing more than prejudice - Blaming the Bible for what they believe. And you will see why that behaviour is not only wrong, but contrary to God. Husband & Wives is a Non-Speculative Theology, and a reasonable treatise on the subject of Plural Marriage, from an Evangelical Christian perspective, not bound to any denomination or modern cultural demands. We have to say it is open-minded as well, because it follows the edict that we are called to always examine the Scriptures with a mind toward allowing the Scriptures to change us, not allowing us to change them, as is too often the case. The source material for this volume is primarily the Scriptures, but relying heavily upon the Scriptures as seen through the eyes of fellow believers throughout history. It also revolves around the experiences of others living life as they understand it. We don't want to be found trying to tell the Bible what we believe, although that is often exactly what our culture demands. In a court of law, as a witness, you may be asked, "Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?" Then some lawyers will try to limit the amount of the truth you are allowed to tell, to contort your account to fit their narrative. In the case of this examination, I really do want to tell the Whole Truth, so help me God. So, buckle up, because it could get bumpy. If we are truly Christians who want to grow in Grace and the knowledge and understanding of the Word and Will of God, we have to let the Scriptures tell us what to believe, what to think, how to live, and what to share, and to do it all with logic and reason, otherwise we are just deciding what they have to say. This is one of those subjects that many in the Church - or the church - may think is decided and closed, but that is only true if the answer among the congregation is correct in consensus and conclusive in Godly understanding. But regarding the matter of taking an additional wife; the matter is neither closed, nor in consensus, and it really isn't remotely conclusive in Godly understanding around the world . . . not even around the modern Christian world. Inside the Body of Christ there is diversity and disunity, and it is the goal of this writing to bring the Words and Will of God into closer, sharper focus, so that greater Unity and University may be found.
