A Provocation is a statement or sequence of words used to initiate thinking in a specific way. Idea Provocations are used to assist you in development of problem or opportunity challenge statements followed by individual or group creative thinking exercises. The cards illustrate a creative thinking process used to initiate unique and novel new ideas. Each card is different and can be used independent of the other cards. Some ideation creative thinking strategies are based on using a specific theme of cards. Therefore, the cards are separated into 4 specific provocation themes.14 unique cards plus 1 explanation card:* 3 Timing Provocation Cards* 4 Arrangement Provocation Cards* 3 Position Provocation Cards* 4 Exploration Provocation CardsThe card deck can be used for structured brainstorming or break you out of traditional thinking methods. The idea triggering challenge statements and questions are used to initiate your thinking in a new direction. If one card does not work, simply go to another card and use it. Make sure to document all new ideas and list them as they are triggered by the Idea Provocation cards. No judgement of the ideas should happen until after the session.
