More DescriptionThe Church has stories that foster hope, show how to overcome adversity, how to love God and your neighbor, and many lessons to bless the community. It's time we started sharing these biblical stories in public. On March 25, 2016, ten churches in Duncanville, Texas came together to tell the story of Good Friday at the local high school performance hall. The 90+ participants included pastors, singers, musicians, and helpers from diverse Christian churches. Doing this together would help us break down barriers and set an example for our diverse community. As churches unified and working together, the community would see that our diversity offers a great opportunity and well of strength. Supported by the local mayor, Chamber of Commerce, businesses, civic organizations and others, the purpose of the event was to foster unity, goodwill, and a sense of belonging through sharing the story of Good Friday with the citizens of Duncanville. This event allowed us to experience the incredible richness of our local diversity. Not only was the program presented in two languages, but the music reflected our cultural variety. Through this event we became friends and colleagues who learned that by working together, the power of unity far outweighs what any one church can do alone. We found that by working together conversation begins, criticism diminishes, people become friends, and trust grows. Wouldn't it be great for trust to grow in your neighborhood? Find out what God might do with the Church if we began actively doing things together in public.
