Bulvife and Benhargan travel as rangers, mercenaries, and bodyguards - and when called upon thieves, assassins, and enforcers. They are Cimmerians, barbarians from the far north. Foolishly they did the bidding of Ottin'bar the evil magician, who hungers for power. Ottin'bar tricks the two rangers into finding and retrieving an ancient magical relic. Once in his grasp, the wizard drugs the barbarians, takes the item, and flees without giving payment, or removing the curse. Ottin'bar has made many enemies in his day, and few could surpass that of the two barbarians - except for one other. Grimface knows the evil magician all too well, for the man killed his family, destroyed his city, and murdered the god-king. For a thousand years Grimface has plotted revenge, and now it is within reach. The two Cimmerians and Grimface the wizard join forces, and together with the most powerful magic item the mage knows, they will smite Ottin'bar, and destroy his army of the dead. One problem - the magic item needed is in pieces, and they have to find them to restore its power, and destroy evil.
