The author proposes the creation of something akin to an options market in which healthy individuals would be given the opportunity to contract for the contingent post-mortem sale of their body parts. If the vendor's organs are harvested and transplanted, a payment in the range of $5000 would be made to his designee. The hospital in which the vendor dies would have the legal duty to preserve his cadaver in a manner suitable for organ harvesting. This market solution is more effective, more efficient and more robust than the alternatives of donation, presumed consent, and required request.
