1872. Whatever exists was created, excepting the Creator. If we go up with the ascending series of cause and effect, when we come to the summit we find that which was not caused; for if it were caused, we must go a step further to find its cause. And that which is at the summit, and is itself not caused, has the whole series below it, and must be the cause of all causation. The totality of being consists of Creator and created.
