More DescriptionGrowing up as a child in Hitler's Germany, I was familiar with the suffering of Jews at the hands of the Nazis. Only by facing those truths squarely was I able to face the world, as a person of German heritage. In fact, facing the truth squarely in whatever conflict is always the first step necessary for being honorable and trustworthy - whether as an individual or as a nation. After living in a Kibbutz and as a Volunteer in the Israeli Army and becoming acquainted with the Israeli and Palestinian narratives, I needed to examine the myths and root causes of the conflict which relies on the bible as a historical document. Not that it is easy, as I well know myself. We tend to cling to an identity built on myths and magic and faith and don't want to "see" another explanation.
