Author Biography
Glasmeier, Amy (Author)

Candace Nelson was born on May 8, 1974 in Indonesia. She graduated from Wesleyan University in 1996 and Tante Marie's Professional Pastry Program soon after. She began working with her husband as investment bankers. After the dot-com bust Candace decided to change her focus to pastry making and opened a home bakery that concentrated on cakes. Later she and her husband modified the business to making only cupcakes.

On April 13, 2005, Sprinkles Cupcakes was born. It was the world's first cupcake bakery located in Beverly Hills, California. They sold 2000 cupcakes the first week. Their secret is to use only fine quality ingredients and she also offers vegan and gluten-free cupcakes. Sprinkles has grown to over 20 locations throughout the United States with plans to expand to London and Tokyo.

Candace has also authored several books on cooking. In 2016 her title, The Sprinkles Baking Book: Secret Recipes from Candace's Kitchen, made the New York Times Best Seller List.
