Author Biography
Upward, Edward (Author)
Author Edward Upward was born in Romford, England on September 9, 1903. He met Christopher Isherwood at the Repton School and their friendship grew as they went on to study at Cambridge University. Together they created the imaginary village of Mortmere. He wrote numerous books including The Railway Accident, Journey to the Border, and A Renegade in Springtime. He joined the Communist Party in 1932, but left the British Communist Party in 1948 because he and his wife felt it had become soft. He died on February 13, 2009 at the age of 105.
