More DescriptionJacob O'Connor has problems. His time spent as a journalistic consultant for Britain's S.A.S. still gives him nightmares, his social life is in the toilet, and his best friend is an unrepentant adrenaline junkie. For those reasons, Jake gave up on a normal life long ago, and was resigned to his boring existence in Ohio. Until he met the lovely, but deadly, Kat at a discount pharmacy. They seemed to hit it off. Unfortunately, just as things finally start going his way, the decomposing corpses of the recently dead begin rising to gnaw on the living. Overnight, all hell breaks loose. The streets of Columbus fill with mindless creatures hungering for only one thing: human flesh. Now Jake, along with his friend Allen and the wise-cracking Kat, must cross the urban carnal house over the course of one terrifying, goop and gore-smeared day. However, remaining in the city means certain death. Jake's group needs to make for some kind of refuge, and not get zombified along the way. One question looms large on all their minds however: how do they reach safety without being killed or worse, turned into drooling maggot-heads themselves? They'll all discover the answer is more disturbing, and just downright bizarre, than any of them could've dreamed. Psychopaths, escaped criminals, and para-military, white-supremacist groups all stand in the way; not to mention an ever-growing threat from the slowly rotting hordes. Their group's tensions and libidos are running high, his personal life is getting more complicated by the day, and to top it all off, it looks like the dead aren't willing to rest in peace any longer. If Jake doesn't want to end up shambling about, slowly assuming room temperature, he'll need to keep his wits about him. ...and his crowbar handy.
