He passed away in August of 2001, in a drowning accident, when he was not quite 17.The pyramids were created with a goal of alleviating the suffering resulting from epilepsy, through supporting research, the development of new therapies that improve the day-to-day quality of life for people living with seizures, and to raise awareness about epilepsy. In addition to the pyramids themselves, Kevin's Pyramids, the book, and a film just recently completed, entitled Last Pyramid, also serve the fundraising efforts for the Epilepsy Foundation.
