Nick Lalich, was an American of Serbian heritage, a hero of WWII sent to Yugoslavia by the OSS to assist General Draza Mihailovich to plan the rescue of 513 American pilots who were downed over Nazi-occupied Yugoslav territory after bombing the Ploiesti oil fields on which Hitler was dependent. This was the single largest rescue of American troops from behind enemy lines in U.S. history. Lalich received the 'Legion of Merit Award' and he went on to a successful career with the CIA....
