Phonological Awareness is an essential precursor of a child's eventual reading success. Many of our five to seven year olds have significant language deficits. Younger children can greatly benefit from activities specifically designed to encourage Kenneth Campbell, the author of Great Leaps Reading and Math, has now put together a series of daily activities to significantly enhance the language growth and thinking skills of children from age 3 to 8. The activities are designed to last from 15 to 45 minutes a day in either a small group, family or individual work. The interventions are simple, fun for the child, and lead to significant growth. Included activities include phonological awareness activities, language development, morphemic awareness and language acuity.
