More DescriptionPlease note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The La'k'vat'ra S'tra is a sutra of Mah'y'na Buddhism. The s'tra recounts a teaching primarily between the Buddha and a bodhisattva named Mah'mati (Great Wisdom). The s'tra is set in La'k?, the island fortress capital of R'va'a, the king of r'k'asas. The La'k'vat'ra S'tra figured prominently in the development of Chinese, Tibetan and Japanese Buddhism. It is also an important s'tra in Chinese Ch n and its Japanese version, Zen. The La'k'vat'ra S'tra draws upon the concepts and doctrines of Yog'c'ra and Tath'gatagarbha. The most important doctrine issuing from the La'k'vat'ra S'tra is that of the primacy of consciousness and the teaching of consciousness as the only reality. The s'tra asserts that all the objects of the world, and the names and forms of experience, are merely manifestations of the mind.
